Ernest Hemingway had a 6 toed cat
It is a shame that the Federal Government was harassing The Museum about these cute 6 toed felines. The Ernest Hemingway House and Museum was forced to spend well over $200,000 in legal fees because the Federal Government thinks it knows better than they do how to care for the descendants of Snowball-Hemingway’s 6 toed cat.The Federales wanted to cage the cats.

” The U.S. Department of Agriculture …had threatened to fine the museum $200 per day per cat about $10,000 saying it didn’t have the proper animal exhibition license and couldn’t qualify for one, primarily because the animals weren’t enclosed. The museum has installed a fence to keep the animals on the one-acre property.”
